RFID market growth projected for 2022 and beyond

The team at IDTechEx has looking at the trends for the RFID market for the past 20 years.  Their latest report shows there was a slight dip of 5% in the RFID market during 2020 that was related to Covid-19’s influence.  The market dip didn’t last long as the market rebounded in 2021 when supply chains started to pick up again. The research states that IDTechEx predicts that 28.4 billion passive RFID tags will be sold in 2021, up from the 23.8 billion sold in 2020. This double-digit growth is a great sign for all the types of passive RFID technologies included in the study which include HF, NFC and UHF RFID.

Market Highlight

“The global RFID market is expected to be worth $11.6 billion in 2021, rising to $12.2 billion in 2022, according to IDTechEx.”

CSL is encouraged about the market growth projection, and we have been working hard to make sure our RFID products are easy to use for the new wave of system integrators that are riding the wave of increased RFID adoption. We have published new open source repositories on GitHub that can help developers make the most of CSL products.

RFID Journal has also provided their take on the research here.
